We’re glad to help. The usual fixes: make sure you’re on 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, keep the device near the router during pairing, and follow the in-app steps. Still stuck? See our smart-home glossary and guides, or contact us and we’ll walk you through it.
Not all products require a professional installation. Where applicable, the installation manual with instructions will be included in the product carton box or installation manuals/user guides will be available on the product page.
With a smart home product, you can use smart voice assistants (such as Apple Siri, Google Assistant, or Amazon Alexa) or a smartphone or tablet with an internet connection to remotely operate appliances and other devices connected to a network. Internet-controlled devices are commonly referred to as IoT (Internet of Things).
Compatibility varies by product type. Most smart Wi-Fi switches and smart retrofits require both a Phase (Live) and Neutral wire behind the switchboard to remain powered up. However, we explicitly specify “No-Neutral Required” on product pages that utilize internal capacitors/cells or Zigbee low-energy protocols designed specifically for older Indian home wiring frameworks.
Yes, we prioritize stocking forward-compatible hardware. Products running the latest Matter-over-Wi-Fi or Matter-over-Thread protocols are highlighted directly in our catalog. These devices integrate natively across Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings simultaneously without ecosystem lockdowns. Please explore ‘Matter Supported Products here’.
Local control depends on the protocol. Standard Wi-Fi smart devices will lose cloud-based features, app access from outside the home, and voice assistant capabilities if your internet drops. However, local schedules, physical toggles, and setups utilizing smart ecosystems like Philips WiZclick or local Zigbee/Matter Hubs will continue to operate normally within your local area network (LAN).
Most of our Wi-Fi devices — Philips WiZ bulbs and plugs, Ecolink smart fans, Wipro and Havells smart lighting — work with Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant / Google Home for voice control and routines. Most brands support Siri Shortcuts which can be easily created inside your iPhones/iPads, Devices that support Matter can also be added to Apple Home and used with Siri. Each product page lists the assistants it supports.
Most products we sell — including the entire Philips WiZ range — connect directly to your home Wi-Fi with no separate hub or bridge. You just need a 2.4 GHz network and the brand’s app. Where a product does need a hub, it’s stated on its page. Other technologies like TP-Link’s proprietary Sub-GHz Wireless Protocol, Thread, Zigbee, Z-wave, Bluetooth-Mesh etc. require a bridge to communicate to the internet. Check the product specification section for details.
Smart-home devices use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (better range and wall penetration than 5 GHz). Most Indian routers broadcast both bands — just keep your phone on 2.4 GHz during setup. Nothing extra to buy.
Both are Philips smart-lighting lines. Philips WiZ works directly over Wi-Fi with no hub, making it more affordable and easy to set up. Philips Hue needs a separate Hue Bridge and sits at a premium price. For most Indian homes, WiZ gives the same smart features — colours, scenes, scheduling, voice — without the extra hardware.
Philips Lighting India (Signify) ceased distributing Philips Hue in India in 2022. In the future, a relaunch is anticipated.
Yes. Each brand has its own app and they run side by side. To control everything from one place, link them to Alexa or Google Home or Apple Home (or via Matter) — that brings all your devices and routines into a single app and voice assistant.
For a more affordable option, consider a common IoT Ecosystem based on the SmartLife app. In India, most products from Wipro, Havells, Syska, Okos, Crompton, Zebronics, HomeMate, Zunpulse, Aziot, EcoEarth, Hogar, Kamonk, SmartiQo, and many other brands use a skinned version of the SmartLife app. Look for SmartLife app support on our product pages. Install this one app to mange all of your products to simplify your Smart Home journey and avoid cluttering your phone.
Philips, TP-Link, Atomberg, Qubo, Panasonic, Samsung, and Ledvance are some of the notable exceptions.
Yes. The brand apps (and Alexa / Google Home) let you share access with family, so everyone controls lights, fans and plugs from their own phone, with their own schedules.
No. Controlling devices, creating schedules and running automations through the brand apps and voice assistants is completely free — there’s no subscription to use your smart home.
NB: Some brands offer Subscription plans for Cloud Storage, usually for Camera feeds; as an option.
Plenty — a typical home runs dozens of smart bulbs, plugs and fans on one Wi-Fi network without issues. For very large setups, a good dual-band or mesh router keeps everything responsive.
A BLDC (brushless DC) fan uses a far more efficient motor — it draws up to half the electricity of a conventional fan for the same airflow, runs quieter, and adds smart features like app/voice control, speed presets and timers. Over a year of daily use the saving is significant.
Depending on the model, yes — our smart bulbs offer tunable white (warm to cool), millions of colours on RGB models, dimming(some products do come with dimmable only option), scenes and scheduling/automation. Each product page specifies whether a bulb is single-color-dimmable, tunable-white or full-colour.
Select smart plugs include energy monitoring and can switch larger appliances like geysers and air-conditioners on a schedule or by voice — helping you track and cut usage. “Energy Monitoring” support is mentioned on product pages.
