How to make your Hub execute Automations

When creating or editing Automations, if the triggers and actions meet the following situations, your Hub will automatically take over the execution.

Ensure that your Hub is updated to the latest firmware version.
Once the Hub takes over the execution of Automations, your Automation will be marked with a symbol for easy identification.
Custom settings are currently not available. If the conditions are not met after modification, it will no longer be executed by the Hub.

Important Notices:

Automations taken over by the Hub can continue to execute reliably during network fluctuations or temporary device disconnections. However, they cannot fully replace cloud-based Automations that require internet access. Therefore, it is not recommended to rely solely on Hub-executed Automations in offline situations.
Once an Automation is assumed by the Hub, you will not be able to edit or delete it if the Hub is disconnected from both the network and the cloud. However, you can resume editing the Automation once the hub is back online.
If the Hub powers off, Automations taken over by the Hub cannot be executed. After the Hub restores power, certain Automations with Effect Time or Time Trigger settings will require the Hub to reconnect to the network and accurately synchronize the time before they can execute properly.
If your home router has network segmentation or disabled device-to-device communication settings, Automations will not be taken over and executed by the Hub.
Ensure that your Hub is updated to the latest firmware version.

FAQs on Tapo Hub H100

What is a Matter Hub/Controller and why is it needed?

A Matter Hub/Controller, like Apple TV, Alexa Echo 3rd Gen, or Google Nest Hub, is required to set up a Matter-enabled device with the corresponding smart home app.

How can I ensure a successful setup?

Make sure that your Tapo Hub and your phone are connected to the same network. This allows for seamless communication during the setup process.

Are there any compatibility limitations with the Matter platform?

Yes, please take note of the following:

Tapo Hub cannot be added via Matter with Amazon-Alexa and Samsung SmartThings currently. Stay tuned for later support.
Matter is not compatible with buttons and water leak sensors, including Tapo S200B, Tapo S200D, and Tapo T300 currently. Stay tuned for later support.

How to Check Alarm Logs/Activities of Tapo Hub

Method 1:

Open the Tapo app and tap your hub card on the home page to enter the status page.
On the status page, slide up the panel and tap Alarm Log to check all activities of your hub.

Method 2:
Open the Tapo app and tap the email icon on the top right to check all activities of your hub.

How Many Devices Can Connect to a Tapo Hub at the Same Time?

Different devices occupy different resources of the Hub. The following is the theoretical device limit of the Hub:

Sensors/Buttons: Up to 64
Switches: Up to 32
Radiator Valves: Up to 32

You can control multiple hubs from one account. Devices can only be paired to one hub at a time. There are 3 kinds of connection states of the hub, including Light, Moderate, and Dense. For optimal performance, avoid connecting more devices when the connection is Dense.

How to Reset Tapo Hub

There are two types of reset available: a soft reset which resets the Wi-Fi settings only, and a factory reset that erases all of your settings and restore to factory defaults.
Soft Reset:-

Press and hold the SYNC for 5 seconds to only reset Wi-Fi settings and keep other settings.
The LED blinking orange and blue indicates a successful soft reset. And you can reconfigure the hub in the Tapo app.

Factory Reset:-
Method 1: Via SYNC Button Press and hold the SYNC for 10 seconds to restore your hub to factory default settings. The LED blinking orange indicates a successful factory reset. And you can reconfigure the hub in the Tapo app.
Method 2: Via Tapo app

Option 1: Open the Tapo app and long tap your hub card. Then tap Remove at the bottom to remove the hub. The hub will be removed from your TP-Link account and reset to the default settings.
Option 2: Open the Tapo app and tap on your hub card. Tap the gear icon to go to the hub’s Settings page and tap Remove at the bottom to remove the hub. The hub will be removed from your TP-Link account and reset to the default settings.
